I am fascinated by this question. When someone attends a dance performance, what is it that attracts them? What turns them away? How does someone work their way through a piece that makes no sense?
Recently, I attended a performance during the Byrd Retrospective Festival at Spectrum Dance Theater. Behind me sat a little girl, probably about 4 years old. Every minute she had a new question, and some of them were quite appropriate:
What are they doing?
Why is the lady in white not moving?
Do they hate each other?
Are they doing ballet?
It is the questioning that I love most about performance - which is why I found the following article so fascinating:

So sit back, enjoy, and ask questions.
